Paintings Of Late CRASHDIET Frontman To Be Displayed At Stockholm Exhibition
November 11, 2006Lisbeth Hellman — mother of late CRASHDIET frontman David Hellman (a.k.a. Dave Lepard) — will include some of her artwork at the exhibition at the Hard Rock Café in Stockholm, Sweden on November 17-18 between 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. "She will be showing some really awesome paintings of her son," reads a posting on the group's web site. "There will also be a display case with photos and some of Dave's belongings." The exhibition will be part of the three-day MaidenMania event, which is being held November 17-18 and November 25 at the Hard Rock Café in Stockholm.
As previously reported, the surviving members of CRASHDIET have uploaded a couple of teasers for their upcoming DVD at www.crashdiet.org.
Hellman was found dead on January 20, 2006 at his apartment in the Swedish city of Uppsala, north of Stockholm. It was reported in several places that he hanged himself, although this was never officially confirmed.
CRASHDIET was a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, "Rest in Sleaze", entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12.
CRASHDIET was reportedly the first "sleaze rock" band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company — Universal Music. The group, whose members were said to be in their early 20s, were scheduled to make their U.S. debut in March at the South by Southwest music conference/festival in Austin, Texas.
The remaining members of CRASHDIET have announced plans to carry on with a new vocalist.
